Healthy Living For Today By Laura C. Barney Eating Fat, Makes You Fat Most Americans eat too much. We eat more calories than we need because there is too much fat in our diets. Eating too much fat causes or contributes to our most serious diseases- heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and many more types of cancers. The average American eats 85 grams of fat per day, and you may be taking in even more fat than that. If you are overweight or have high cholesterol, restricting fat a little bit is not enough. You need to restrict fat severely by eating no more than 20 grams of fat each day. You should eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans, and not so much else. Give your body fewer calories to burn, without ever feeling hungry by restricting fat severely and eating lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. Burn more calories by increasing your metabolism with as little as 90 minutes of exercise per week. Below Are Some Healthy Tips: Buy Non-Fat cottage cheese or 1%. Buy Skim Milk. Non Fat Yogurt. Buy Non-Fat mayonnaise. Buy non-fat soup from a health food store. Eat beans for proteins and also they are good in fiber. Beverages: Refrain from soft drink: They contain too much sugar and caffeine. Avoid diet drinks, as NutraSweet is very harmful to the body. Make muffins for fiber-Zucchini Bread, Banana Nut Bread muffins. Bread- 12 grain bread: no fat or cholesterol. Cereals: Use skim milk and raw sugar or honey. Non-fat saltine crackers. Non-fat cheese for eating. Avoid junk foods or sugary desserts. Avoid Margarine as it is hydrogenated [plastic]. In this case butter in small amounts is healthier. Eat chicken, fish and turkey. Skin the chicken and turkey before preparing to avoid the heavy fat concentration. Avoid excessive red meat and especially Pork [It is loaded with fat and cholesterol}. Avoid boxed processed foods as they are loaded with chemicals. Avoid "convenience" foods as they are loaded with fat. Avoid ice Cream except non-fat or low fat and no cholesterol. Buy eggless noodles and spaghetti [whole wheat pasta is good]. Use brown rice instead of white. Avoid cheese and macaroni full of at in the cheese that melts. Avoid fast food restaurants. They will destroy your life and body. They are FAT, FAT, FAT. Avoid all fried foods. Enjoy your chicken, fish, etc. broiled, baked or steamed. They are much healthier and less cancer causing as well as fat producing. Remember FAT doesn't go just to your waist line. It also goes into the blood stream and starts clogging your arteries. Leviticus 3:17 says, "It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood." These are just a few things that can change your life and extend your days. He wishes that we be healthy, happy and blessed.
